NOPE, NO JELLY HERE

SWEET, RICH CHOCOLATE
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame
$150 + $15 insured priority shipping

Within 2 days the Jelly Queen, Kelley MacDonald
hit me first with a strawberry glazed and then a
lemon custard donut!
(check it out at Kelly's site - they're incredibly good)

Ka-boom ... ka-boom! (Ouch... I felt that.)

So I'm flinging what I know best - a chocolate glazed donut.
Yummy....

Take that Kelley!

OH, OH.....JELLY QUEEN IS IN THE LEAD!

I have been so busy munching away my props with my grandkids - see Zahra? - that I lost track of my painting time. And lo & behold,
who snuck up on me? Well the Queen of Jelly, Kelley MacDonald
She created an imperial lemon custard and strawberry frosted
in the last 2 days.

Where's the jelly Kelley?

And so the Donut War rages along.
Mustn't turn one's back for a minute or will get splat! with jelly.

KA-BOOM! THE JELLY IS FLYING

CUDDLED PLEASURE
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel

The Donut War is heating up - maybe to go with the weather?

And Kelley is flinging jelly left and right.

Her delightful, sticky morsels are even quite sensual
with the jelly oozing out!

(Oh, oh....I think she has become Queen of jelly.)

I better hunker down and protect my little treat
from all of that gooey jelly.

A temporary truce was declared last weekend between

Kelley MacDonald and myself over the Donut War

And while the minutes, hours and days ticked bye, the chocolate
drizzled and dripped down my beautiful chocolate glazed beauty.

What's a girl to do?

Lick my fingers.

We're back!

WONDERFUL BEGINNING

MORNING ASCENT
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame
It was a winding, dusty and long journey.

Questioning my travels, I rolled into a deep slumber with a fatigued body.

And then was rewarded with vibrant morning colors.

The world is beautiful!

TRUCE FOR THE WEEKEND SO RECOUPING

Kelley is up to her eyeballs with an open studio this weekend so requested a truce with our ongoing Donut War. And imagine, after posting a delectable, wonderful jelly donut

Ouch...... felt that one in the gut Kelley!

Well it was difficult to stand back but this is a lovely, yummy war, so recouping my energy with all my sweets (see?).

Think this sugar will fortify me for the next stage of the battle?
Stay tuned.....

ROUND + ROUND WE GO!

SPIRAL + GLAZED
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte, glass + scrolled gold leaf frame
$150 + $15 insured priority shipping

Around the fabric twirls, almost like a fortress.

Unsure if it's protecting the fry cake from being eaten
or a shield from Kelley's friendly fire?

Really, I think she's too busy munching on her German Chocolate
Wonder from yesterday - everyone must check it out!

8.18.2010

WRATH

I think this Donut War is getting out of hand.

My grandson, Angelo was visiting all the way from Albuquerque and see.... we had a tussle over the donuts. Imagine!

I saw Kelley MacDonald had another slam-dunk today with a German Chocolate and glazed donut.
Oh, no!

And here I was too busy eating and swatting Angelo to paint.
(Did this image put the fear into you Kelley?)

But rest assured, tomorrow is another day.

So watch out Kelley - I'm coming for you!

Dark and moody was the evening

with full-bodied clouds that moved through the night.

Downward they fell in wisps, simulating tears.

8' square archival white matte, glass + scrolled gold leaf frame

Life has seemed a bit gluttonous recently, with the ensuing Donut War.

And many were claiming it was time to sign up with Weight Watchers.

So let's step back and nibble a sweet, little butter cookie.

Ahhh.... I don't have to unzip my pants.

NOW HERES DECADENCE FOR YOU

JELLY-LICIOUS

Okey, the weekend has passed and now onto business.
So what could start the week off better than
not only a jelly donut, but also with white glazed frosting?

Now I know Kelley has a weakness for jelly donuts,
but have you ever seen one of these?

And it's as decadent as it looks!
Bam, Kelley!

8.12.2010

S, S, S, S, SUGAR!
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte, glass + scrolled gold leaf frame
$150 + $15 insured priority shipping

Oh man.... look what happened while I was dazing at the sky!
Here I was bamboozled by Kelley and hit with not one, but 2 jelly donuts and a Dunkin Donut's drink. And thought we were in a truce?

(For the few of you out there that may not know, Kelley MacDonald and myself are in a middle of a donut war and times are hard - plus, ooey, gooey and sticky:)

So BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM + BAM Kelley with 5 donuts - sprinkles, sugar, glazed, chocolate and glazed - of sweet, little, sugary treats!

WISPS & DREAMS

WISPY EVENING SUNSET
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame

Fading in and fading out, the colors flew in minuscule wisps.

Delicate little streamers of pastels.

Softness as in a dream.

BUTTERY, COOL AND A PROMISE

GOLDEN SUNRISE
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte

In the early hours, a ball of white arose
from the yellow depths.

Without a blaze, but rather a buttery, cool atmosphere.

The morning held great promise.

2 DAYS REMAINING

FRAYED
DECON + RECONSTRUCTED DOLLS & PASTELS

Just two days remaining and this is a show that must be seen!

The premise is there's a sliver of hope upon the horizon during catastrophic times,
which I feel is quite apropos for today's times.

The work can be viewed at Ray Street Custom Framing + Gallery, 3807 Ray St, San Diego
from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Here I've been my head into swirls and twirls -Almost as bad as my head into the clouds - and sticky frosting.  But today I hustled for Kelley MacDonald had a jamming (sorry for the pun) jelly
donut a couple of days ago. Well I found a jelly donut with all the sweetness sitting pretty on top of the chocolate.

Thank you Panchitas!

Darn (* # ! *), now Kelley is onto Boston Creams!

Fellow DPO Artist Kelley MacDonald has one up on me with that scrumptious
jelly donut from yesterday- good job Kelley!

Almost dashed to the store for some jelly.

But no.... I must remember this is a Cold Donut War

So instead I stayed and played with my frosting.

Bliss....

GOT FROSTING?

So much better than "Got Milk?", you think?

Here I have a fold in my draping, but who has time when there is a donut war going on out there?

PUCKER TIME FOR THE THROWDOWN

LUSCIOUS LIME
4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel
8" square archival white matte, glass + scrolled gold leaf frame

SOLD - PRIVATE COLLECTOR

If anyone hadn't heard yet, fellow Daily Painter Original Artist Kelley MacDonald and myself are having a donut throwdown. Nothing is flying for we're eating the props,
so I'm happy to report that noone is getting hurt.

But oh.... it's a cupcake!
Sorry Kelley, but Panchita's donuts are so huge
that I can hardly walk anymore. (Nothing like a donut from the 'hood!)
So this petite divine cupcake is from Heavenly Desserts and was a tart lime cupcake with dips, folds, and swirls of frosting that just melted in the mouth.
