DIGNITY
pastel
SOLD - PRIVATE COLLECTOR
After the holidays, I begun to reminisce of people from my past.
Reflecting, I realize that life experiences have
enriched me greatly in so many ways.
Dignity is not only of a friend I lost touch with,
but also a personal, favorite painting that went to another home.
Fond memories.... gone but not forgotten.
Sometimes it's tough when people move through out lives. It seems some are just here for a while while others remain in our lives forever. It can be hard to identify those that must move on. We aren't always ready to let them go, especially when they took a place of great importance while they were active in our lives. But people's directions change and friends who were once so close and dear wonder away in a new direction. I too reflect on past acquaintances at this time of year. It's hard not to. I hope you reflect on the fun times you shared rather then the emptiness of their departure...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on this Susan. Would like to see more of your portraits.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Susan!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait. I get a real sense of the person. The colors are lovely and that bit of rim lighting on the throat lends some vulnerability to a strong persona.
ReplyDeleteSusan, this is such a wonderful, expressive portrait! I love your bold, strong use of colour and intensity of values. A brave work! It is too bad you have lost touch with the sitter. Perhaps this blog post will find her and she will be in your life again?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and full of emotion.
ReplyDeleteStriking Susan! Happy painting in the fabulous new year!
ReplyDeleteMoving portrait. Love your pastel work. Great color and movement. Really cool! Always wanted to learn. One day.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Ms. Susan! Very well executed. I hope to see more portraits too!
ReplyDeletelovely, you're so versatile!I really like the sculpted feel of this
ReplyDeleteYou are soooooo talented! This portrait is exquisite. You paint all subjects masterfully!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone. Was a precious piece I am proud of. Never knew who purchased it for sold in a Santa Fe gallery, but think of it often.
ReplyDeleteAnd Susan, no truer words on people coming and going through our lives. The girl in this painting went to art school with me. We did reconnect a few years back. Unfortunately only had her email, which didn't work after a period of time, so lost her once again. Maybe she'll pop up once more, for three's the charm, huh?
