IN THE POOL Still playing away over here with a paintbrush!  I have been creating sketches with pastel washes. I know many pastelists create art with undertones  of washes with acrylics and watercolors. But I have  been applying water to a cardboard substrate with  added stroking with the pastel sticks. Sure does speed up my typical layered process!  All of this is in preparation for my upcoming  Second Saturday workshop at the San Diego  Museum of Art to be held on Saturday, July 12th.  This is held in conjunction with the Sorolla and America   exhibit, which I hear is amazing! STROLLING 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white mat* *no glass nor frame $75 + $10 insured priority shipping I have been much more time hanging out along the beaches  of San Diego to prepare for my upcoming workshop  with San Diego Museum of Art.  Makes me realize how invigorating the sunshine as well  as the sound of the rolling waves are - I really do need to get outside more!  Here's a petite pastel of a father and small son  strolling along the beach.

ROLLING BEACH 9" x 7" pastel I've been gearing up to instruct a workshop coordinated  with the "Sorolla and America" exhibit at San Diego Museum of Art.  Sorolla was known to grab anything to sketch on a daily basis and many times it was onto cardboard. So the workshop is creating seascape sketches with pastel washes onto cardboard.  Above  "ROLLING BEACH" is one completed example. I found  the substrate suitable with enough texture to grip the pastels, as well  as being a good mid-tone for an underbase.  The workshop will be held Saturday, July 12th from 1- 4:30pm. HIDDEN BEAUTY 25"h x 15"w pastel  Hidden Beauty is my second pastel on exhibit  with the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club's   Annual Members Show at The Salmagundi Club , NY. Very honored to be a juried member of such an esteem organization! The exhibit ends Friday, June 6th, so limited time  to see the show.
