A LITTLE OF THIS + A LOT OF THAT

WHITE SEA BASS * 6"h X 16"w Painted, engraved + etched glass * Collaborative - Susan E. Roden & Nancy Arthur-McGehee Tomorrow is the day to hang the show at Coalesce Gallery. The majority of the art are my pastels, yet will also showcase a selection of collaborative glass art created previously by myself and Nancy Arthur-McGehee.  These pieces are unique and stunning.  And collaborating with an artist that uses a different medium was exciting! Makes one view creativity with different eyes. In a previous blogpost I profiled another glass piece  with an explanation of our procedure. You can reread  it by clicking here . OH NO! where's my hands?

I love gifts from my friends! One of my playmates and artist friend Nancy, gave me  this sweet little stem of a squash. We marveled over how  body-like it was shaped, so I searched for an appropriate  little doll head to go with it. Now I just need to find little hands to finish her  itty-bitty body. I do have grand visions for this little  girl, so will keep you posted! Lovely day everyone!

THE JOY OF COLLABORATION!

ANGEL* Sold - Private Collector 8" square glass, pencil + paint Detail of collaborative piece by Susan Roden + Nancy Arthur-McGehee Do you admire greatly  another Artist? Wonder  how in the world they  do what they do?  Well by embracing some  collaboration you will see  new personal growth and direction, as well as deepened friendships.  Nancy Arthur-McGehee  is  not only my friend, but an  incredible artist! She etches   glass, is a lapidary, and a scientific illustrator. Some time ago she informed  me that one could paint and  draw onto glass. Pastels,  pencils + paint - amazing!  Out came our pencils to  schedule some play-dates,  where we both got to  experience the others medium.  Crab Decanter ©Nancy Arthur-McGehee Etched + blasted glass decanter And two very successful art...

AIN'T IT PSYCHEDELIC?

THEY GLOW IN THE DARK! Here's a little Cupcake Couture for your daily pleasure. The green lizard - or is it a gecko? - is actually a brooch  that sports a laminated cupcake. Something every gal  needs for fun. And the 2 white lizards pins are a gift from my gal pal,  Nancy. But the best part is that the 2 lizards  glow in the dark ! Cool. . . . huh?

PLAY DAY OF FUN WITH FRIENDS

JOEL, BOY BIRD + NANCY Today I hustled my doll parts to my friend, Joel's studio,  where Artist Nancy Arthur McGehee joined us. Now let me tell you about my friends.  Nancy is an incredible glass artist and a prime example of her art can be viewed at:  http://funeria.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=10 Joel does about everything from painting, sculpting and mixed media, with samples of his art at:  http://www.sharpgallery.net/index.html Above left, Joel is creating a doll by adjoining a head and body  to an inverted piece of palm tree. The reconstructed doll will be so  striking in all black with vivid blue eyes. On the right, Nancy is hand crafting heads for a mixed media wall  hanging mounted on a wood panel. Her center imagery will be a  wired broken heart. And center is the start of a Boy Bird that I concentrated on. I did succeed in hot gluing fuschia and black feathers onto the boy and attaching a...
