Last Saturday was the opening reception for AIR + WOOD and you can see from this picture I'm having a grand time!  What a range of people attended the show from art  enthusiasts to skaters. Had some drop by the shop today  to check it out as well. The closing reception is Saturday, September 14th  from 6 - 9:30, so still a chance to catch it.  Thanks one and all!

Was early morning when I shot the images, so pretty light, but at least you get an idea of the reconstructed pallet frames. The reception is tonight and can't wait to celebrate! WHEELING 24"h x 18"w pastel + gold leaf And this is the second painting that is in Albuquuerque for  the Pastel Society of New Mexico's 21st Annual Juried  National Pastel Painting Exhibition.  Honor, honor, honor!

FLYING HIGH 24"h x 18"w pastel + gold leaf Flying High just arrived in Albuquerque and anxiously  waiting to be delivered to Pastel Society of New Mexico's  21st Annual National Pastel Painting Exhibition. Honored  for this pastel as well as Wheeling to be juried into the show.  Now if I only I could be there too . . . 

I've been working off and on these days with figurative  pieces in exploration of movement and interaction.  The above three panels illustrates the preliminary  layering and blocking-in. All imagery is still very  loose, but will tighten as the painting progresses.  I will also apply a sliver of gold leaf following  the skating path. Isn't it amazing of all the contortions skateboarders  subject their bodies to, while in flight?
