SUSAN'S . . . PLAYING AGAIN!

I'm always so quiet just before a show from the last  minute rush, which I'm definitely in that stage.  August 7th marks the opening of my solo show  AIR + WOOD and I still have so much to do! The postcard, pictured above, has just been mailed, so tick one thing off my list. Now onto the framing!

CRISS-CROSS 8"h x 10"w pastel on canvas panel* *no mat nor frame $275 + $10 insured priority shipping - tax inclusive I'm in the middle of teaching an introduction to pastels at UCSD Extension, which is always fun for me.  Not only do I instruct the wonders of the medium,  but also refresh myself of other techniques and supplies. Above is the demo piece on priming canvas panels, with an under-wash base of acrylic as well as blocking in the composition with pastel. So much texture which really changes the finished appearance.  Above, CRISS-CROSS is my interpretation  of the movement of clouds at sunrise.

FIRE + PASSION 6" x 6" pastel 12" square glass + gold frame Sold - Private Collector I have a story to tell . . .  As I was walking Friday I encountered a blind man.  Determinedly he was tapping away with a cane,   yet was turned around at a street crossing.   The gentleman missed the corner and butting  heads with a street lamp. I asked him if he needed assistance and at first declined. Then he inquired if he passed the deli. It took a minute  for me to get my bearing as well, and realized he passed  the cross street by a block.  I explained that he had to go back one block, turn right,  go another block and the deli would be on his left. Inquired  if he needed additional assistance, he smiled and said no. While walking away, decided I should look back  and . . .  saw the gentleman had crossed the street successfully, but was turned around once again! I yelled to him the directions, which he then gave  a nod
