BUOYANT CLOUDS 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" pastel double mat, AR glass + gold frame 'Buoyant Clouds ' was accepted into the Land  of Enchantment Show sponsored by the  Pastel Society of New Mexico and on view  at the Community Gallery of Santa Fe.  All accepted pastel paintings were to depict New Mexico, so here's my imagery of state's  vibrant clouds bursting from the landscape. The exhibit is on view from July 6th to the 25th,  yet only open to the public till the 16th. So there's  still 4 more days to see the show!

ART BLOCK #1 3 1/4" x 2 1/8" wood pastel wash + acrylic Seems like I'm not productive here, yet part of my time has been devoted to these little gems. This is one that  will be traveling to Art-O-Mat , which my art has been  with them since the beginning of the year.  If you haven't ever heard of this organization, you must  check them out! It began 20 years ago by an artist Clark Whittington, where  he refurbished an old cigarette machine for a show of his art.   Currently the machines are placed all over the States in  different venues, such as the Smithsonian, Cosmopolitan Hotel,  Whole Foods, art galleries, etc. It costs exactly $5 and the  recipient gets an original piece of art. Now isn't this cool?!!!

CRISS-CROSS 8"h x 10"w pastel on canvas panel* *no mat nor frame $275 + $10 insured priority shipping - tax inclusive I'm in the middle of teaching an introduction to pastels at UCSD Extension, which is always fun for me.  Not only do I instruct the wonders of the medium,  but also refresh myself of other techniques and supplies. Above is the demo piece on priming canvas panels, with an under-wash base of acrylic as well as blocking in the composition with pastel. So much texture which really changes the finished appearance.  Above, CRISS-CROSS is my interpretation  of the movement of clouds at sunrise.
