Yesterdays post was of a downpour over the Puerco River, where this image is a few miles  past above the Tepees .  The Tepees were created from erosion with each colorful  band indicative of a different era in time. More can be read by clicking here . By the way, I LOVE turkey and am looking forward to the day!

BARELY TOUCHING

EVENING'S SWIFT MOVEMENT 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame The motion was circular as the clouds raced. Barely touching the mountaintop  and the tips of the trees.  Mesmerized, I watched the movement swell then drop.

CRYING

CLOUDS ARE CRYING 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame $150 + $15 insured priority shipping Have you ever notice a rainfall where the sky is still a vibrant blue yet it's raining? When I was at the Petrified Forest National Park last September as an Artist-in-Residence, this happened frequently. I would be out painting furiously and suddenly a low layer of black clouds would roll in and the rain would pour. I would have loved to stay there and continue painting, but rain sure plays havoc with soft pastels. A scene that's a bit eerie, but a beautiful sight!

NIGHT APPROACHES

OMINOUS CLOUD 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame $150 + $15 insured priority shipping One day the sky was heavy with a thick layer of clouds after an earlier rain storm. The drops had evaporated and the day was still. The sun was preparing to set, which intensified the darkness of the clouds and they moved with a swift fury. The sight took my breath away.

ART SHOW BREWING

BREWING 11"h x 14"w pastel The other day as I was listening to the radio while painting, overheard a commercial from an office supple store. Blew me away for they claimed clouds were scary. As you all might guess by now, I love clouds. After all if I didn't, I wouldn't be tripping over my feet all the time as I gaze upward while walking. (Sure could have saved me some skinned knees too!) Anyway, back to the clouds... they are as unique as people. A cloud could be skinny, wispy, chunky or puffy and range from white to black and every other color in between. No two are alike and are so fascinating. And they move quicker than you can spit! You really notice that when you try to paint them for they never sit still. So lately I have been plugging along creating art for my solo show, Frayed , opening June 10th at Ray Street Custom Framing and Gallery in San Diego. (This is where I will be also exhibiting the baby dolls, which I promise will show you at a later date.) The pr...

I SPY...

STORM APPROACHING 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" white archival matte, glass + gold leaf frame SOLD - PRIVATE COLLECTOR Wasn't that a wonderful game for road trips? Now it seems all young children sit with game boys and PSPs. And what do I spy? It's blue, purple and moving faster than you can count - storm clouds! And the rain is following fast.

STORM'S COMING

STORM'S COMING pastel - 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" 8" square white matte, petite gold leaf frame SOLD- PRIVATE COLLECTOR A storm arose quickly one day while I was painting at the Petrified Forest National Park. It was quite strange for one minute the sun was blasting down and the next, black clouds were rolling above my head. It was a mad dash to pick up my easel, pastels and small stool. The shrubs on the horizon darkened similar to a sunset, yet the sky was still a bright blue.
