Ending of AIR + WOOD Exhibit by Susan Roden

FLYING HIGH         RED WAS THE NIGHT 24" x 18" pastel & gold leaf                     assemblage Tuesday, October 8th is the ending of AIR + WOOD , my exhibit at Ray Street Custom Framing & Gallery .  The show was not only a departure from my typical style, but also quite liberating. The pastels embraced body form  and motion, whereas the assemblages were creations compiled from "findings" from the street. It's always so fun to be daring!

RED WAS THE NIGHT - acrylic assemblage by Susan Roden

RED WAS THE NIGHT * 17 1/2" x 11 1/2"   acrylic & found objects assemblage $225  * Contact  Ray Street Custom Framing & Gallery for purchase Quite a bit different from my pastels, huh? This is one of the assemblages included within my  upcoming show AIR + WOOD at Ray Street Custom  Framing & Gallery in San Diego. I'm particularly fond of this piece for love crosses and found it intact when walking! The show will be up for view on August 7th, however if anyone  wants to get a jump-start and purchase prior to the opening,  please link into Ray Street Custom Framing & Gallery here .

TWISTS + BENDS

I've been working off and on these days with figurative  pieces in exploration of movement and interaction.  The above three panels illustrates the preliminary  layering and blocking-in. All imagery is still very  loose, but will tighten as the painting progresses.  I will also apply a sliver of gold leaf following  the skating path. Isn't it amazing of all the contortions skateboarders  subject their bodies to, while in flight?
