Where did it go? After vacationing a couple of times at the island, I had created "Catalina" when time was more abundant. Still one of my favorite landscapes! STROLLING 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white mat* *no glass nor frame $75 + $10 insured priority shipping I have been much more time hanging out along the beaches  of San Diego to prepare for my upcoming workshop  with San Diego Museum of Art.  Makes me realize how invigorating the sunshine as well  as the sound of the rolling waves are - I really do need to get outside more!  Here's a petite pastel of a father and small son  strolling along the beach.

ROLLING BEACH 9" x 7" pastel I've been gearing up to instruct a workshop coordinated  with the "Sorolla and America" exhibit at San Diego Museum of Art.  Sorolla was known to grab anything to sketch on a daily basis and many times it was onto cardboard. So the workshop is creating seascape sketches with pastel washes onto cardboard.  Above  "ROLLING BEACH" is one completed example. I found  the substrate suitable with enough texture to grip the pastels, as well  as being a good mid-tone for an underbase.  The workshop will be held Saturday, July 12th from 1- 4:30pm. CORONADO SHORELINE 8"h x 10"h pastel glass + gold leaf frame PRIVATE COLLECTOR The sun is out, yet there is a chill in the air. So much nicer than rain! So today I thought it would be nice to visually travel to Coronado and picture a sunny, warm day. The day I visited, it was also a bit chilly, yet with the sound of the crashing waves, one forgot it was so cold. And a bright sun just warms the soul so well!

1, 2, 3 .... DINGHY 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel white archival matte, glass + 8" petite gold leaf frame SOLD - PRIVATE COLLECTOR Since I am on the topic of the Ocean, decided to create this petite pastel. The scene I captured is from my recent trip to the Town of Avalon at Catalina Island in search of wildflowers. The tiny beach has a few docks with dinghies tightly roped and crammed together. If you remember - and do hope someone is out there is reading this, with many thanks - it rained nearly the whole time I was there. There were such wonderful clouds between the rain drops, yet overcast the majority of the time. And it was very overcast at this point, so I attempted to brighten the painting with splashes of bold color. One good thing about a dinghy - there's no need to dog paddle!
