Not only is there a lake, but hiking  trails as above.  And I hate to say, that I was so lost in my thoughts while driving, that I got a ticket for not coming to a complete stop. . .  bummer !

LAKE MEAD 8"h x 16" wide pastel 12" x 20"  glass + gold frame   I have just returned from playing for two days with a dear friend. Sure spices up one's creativity, as well as so very exciting. And the trouble we got into!  I'm prepping up for two exhibitions the latter part of the year, so needed to get my game on. And the art is quite different from  my quaint, petite pastels. But that is another story,  which I will be posting about tomorrow.  For today, I have an older, yet favorite pastel from my travels  to Boulder Beach at Lake Mead. A wonderful National  Recreational Center with varied terrain of beaches to redrock.

So here's a little scene of redrocks for a little Southwest ambience. Now there are a lot in New Mexico, but forgive me for this little path is at Lake Mead Recreational Area in Nevada. I have posted about Lake Mead previously, which you  can click here and view one of my entries. The National Park covers a huge area - actually between 2 states - and extreme differences in  topography.  So I'm off now to daydream of my trip. Have a great day!

COTTONWOOD COVE 6" x 6" pastel, glass + gold frame $295 + $15 insured shipping Cottonwood Cove is part of Lake Mead National Recreation  Area , which straddles the Arizona and Nevada state borders and contains 2 lakes - Lake Mead and Lake Mohave.    The Cove is much more quiet and secluded for not  as well-known as Lake Mead, which is much more  centrally located.   Cottonwood Cove is located on the southwestern  side of Lake Mohave at the Cottonwood Basin.  And cottonwoods surround the campgrounds,  providing shade and color. Another gem of the National Parks!
