MANY COLORS - figurative pastel by Susan Roden

MANY COLORS  pastel on paper A little late here, but this is a piece I worked on at last  week's life drawing session. Heidi is a wonderful model  and so enjoy sketching her!  Below is the vamp-in after the first hour. Been experimenting  with laying a base of 3 colors prior to the beginning of  sketching. Gives a nice under-base to build upon. And  going out of my norm'  by use of bright, strong colors. Do  tend to use a lot of light blues and turquoise.

MOTHER NATURE has gone to a new home!

MOTHER NATURE upcycled mixed media sculpture SOLD  I truly love this little lady, yet happy to see  that she's  going to a new home. Mother Nature has been sold!  This fiery little lady will be residing in Taos in a  private collection.  She was recently one of the collected art pieces within  the play, Diptych' written by Mark Dunn, performed by  Albuquerque's Kathleen Welker and produced by the Aux Dog Theatre in Albuquerque.

TURBAN - pastel by Susan Roden

TURBAN  pastel on paper Getting back to my routine - sure feels good!  (& unbelievable 1/2 the month has already gone by!)  So today I went to life drawing and struggled away for 2 hours on a full body image that was going  nowhere. Then jammed this out the last hour.

FEMALE MODEL - pastel sketch by Susan Roden

FEMALE MODEL  pastel on paper This sketch was completed in a hour during a life drawing  session a couple of days ago. Feels so good to be back  onto a schedule here! Time flies and I always seem to have  something popping up, but these drawing sessions really  help strengthen one's eye and hand coordination. And of course, pop of colors always brighten the day!

ORANGE + BLUE RIBBONS - 5" x 5" pastel by Susan Roden

ORANGE + BLUE RIBBONS* 5" x 5" pastel on paper *no mat nor frame $50 + $5 Insured shipping It has been quite a while, but I have finally returned to "blogdom"! In the interim, I had moved from sunny  San Diego to sunny Albuquerque, which is glorious in it's  own rights. Having lived here nearly two decades ago, it  feels as if I've returned home.  I have not settled into permit dwelling, so painting on the fly. And what would be more apropos than a colorful, original sky? The skies in Albuquerque have so much movement,  particularly during sunny days, which I will be showing more later. Please note since I'm in temporary housing, that this little sweet sky is not framed nor matted, which has  been reflected in the cost.
