WELL LOOK-EY HERE . . .

I just got a google - alert and what a surprise.
It linked me to here.

Amazing how anyone can take one of your images
and post it just about anywhere.

Is it a honor or what?

JUST LIKE THE GREEKS

FROM THE BEGINNING . .  .

TO THE BREAKING . . .  HEAR THE CRASH?
(I feel like I'm back at the Greek clubs as they break plates)
 TO THE GLUEING . . .
WITH MORE TO COME . . .

ALL THAT IS GOLD GLITTERS

RAM
print + gold leaf on bristol
6"h x 4"w

I have been playing with my doll and animal
imagery, by creating 2 dimensional prints which
will hang with the 3 dimensional figures.
Just little visions of fun!

So the gold leaf has been flying!
I have specks all over me, the table and the floor.
Kind of like a party going on over here.

ALL MY HEART

ALL MY HEART
7" glass-domed doll art
bisque head, squash stem, mosaic, glass heart

So quiet in my blogland for had been traveling,
coordinating art for the Old House Fair, creating art for
my upcoming shows and structuring lessons for my
UCSD Extension pastel classes.

Amazing how time flies!

Above is one of my 3-dimensional pieces,
All My Heart, which will be in the October Show
And the little girl was so fun constructing,
for her body is made from a squash stem provided
by a dear friend! Below is the piece in entirety
under it's little glass dome.

WIPING THE SLEEP OUT OF MY EYES

RAYS OF THE MORNING
18"h x 14" w pastel

Away passed the black night . . .
with hours burning, it went unnoticed.

Time slips and slides, rushing by in a whoosh.
Drained of energy.

Suddenly glancing upwards, was rewarded
with a golden view.

Revitalized!

A TRAVELING SHOW OF COLOR!

Well my petite pastels and myself will be traveling to a show
on Saturday, June 16th. That in itself is a rarity, for I typically
do not do outside shows. But this will be a fun event and my art
will be in good company with my artist friend Jori Owens.

The event is the Old House Fair held at 30th & Beech St
in South Park. There will be booths, music, tours and just
plain old fun. To read more please click here.

A MILLION AND THEN SOME

detail of Bird + Butterflies
16" x 12" acrylic on wooden panel

Seems as if I have a million things going on . . .
I do!
Okey, maybe not quite a million, but sure
each and everyone of you out there can relate.
And it sure feels like a million.

Always an on-going process juggling so many projects,
but that kinds of fuel my fire. So in between my pastels,
I've been working with acrylics on a series which
Bird + Butterflies is one of them.

And this is just a peek for now.

SWIPE AND THEN RED

RED HAIR
6" square pastel on canvas

Always amused when I read of the artists swiping
their canvases. A pretty hard thing to do when one's
 a pastelist . . .

or is it?

Some take a brush and wipe away, others may use an exacto
knife and slowly scrape away, yet I have another method.

and how?

I prime a stretched canvas,  then I "swipe"
by washing with turpenoid to start over.

TWISTS + BENDS

I've been working off and on these days with figurative
pieces in exploration of movement and interaction.

The above three panels illustrates the preliminary
layering and blocking-in. All imagery is still very
loose, but will tighten as the painting progresses.
I will also apply a sliver of gold leaf following
the skating path.

Isn't it amazing of all the contortions skateboarders
subject their bodies to, while in flight?
