RIBBONS AND HOT FLASHES

LAYERS OF THE NIGHT 6"w x 4"h pastel Private Collector At first glance, all was dark... subdued and moody tones coating the sky. At second glance, thin ribbons of colors were revealed... streaking, as hot flashes.

A DAY OF FUN, PASTRIES AND SIDEWALKS!

PATRICIAN DESIGN Saturday, September 25th, I spent the day on a sidewalk.  Literally... And had so much fun!  Patrician Design has a Sidewalk Artists Series that runs from March  through November and profiles each of it's represented Artists.  Such a wonderful opportunity to view works of all sorts,  as well as to meet the Artist. Above was my tiny set-up as I painted away on a pastry,  purchased from Patrician's neighbor, Gold Street Caffe .  If in Albuquerque, please stop bye to see my pastels  at Patrician Design, then stroll next door for a wonderful meal. Thanks Patti for a memorable day!

AN ANNIVERSARY

AT THE BLUE MESA 11"h x 14"w pastel on wood panel and gold leaf frame PRIVATE COLLECTOR Remember that old saying "Time flies"? It definitely does.  I was just reminiscing about my travels to the Petrified Forest  National Park and amazed that it has been one year, since I was  juried as one of the Park's 2009 Artist-in-Residents. I lived within a three-room historical adobe at the Park for  two weeks and painted non-stop from early morning to late  evening. True bliss! Above is a pastel on a primed wooden panel, which greatly enhanced  the texture of rough rocks. And the mountainous scene is one  of many located along the 3 1/2 mile loop leading from the Park's  main road to the Blue Mesa Trail.

SWAYING AND ROCKING

GLOW AT THE NIAGARA 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame PRIVATE COLLECTOR T hree abreast in the calm waters as they  slowly swayed and rocked. And the sun cast golden rays downward  illuminating the night. My thanks to Patti.

COLORS OF CATALINA SHOW

WILD FLOWERS AT EAGLE NEST Tirage Gallery 10" x 8" pastel $495 This grove of wild flowers is where I was traipsing  around for hours, before I discovered I was stranded. Lovely.... I was smack dab in the center of Catalina Island for hours,  mesmerized with the sights and colors.  There I go... with my head in the clouds and ducking the rain drops!  Fortunately I finally spotted and flagged down a  Catalina Conservancy Employee tooling down the road,  who radioed a ride for my return to Avalon.  (no, it wasn't a garbage truck as Tirage claimed) This is one of my paintings included within the Colors of Catalina   show, comprised of four participating galleries of the Pasadena Art  Association. Works may be viewed now at the galleries, with mutual  open house receptions on Saturday, October 9th, from noon to  5:00 p.m. Myself and many of the exhibiting Artists will  be in ...

CIGARS AND SUNSETS

PLUME IN CUBA 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame $150 + $15 insured priority shipping  Upward it shot, as a projectile bursting above the trees.  Overlapping the sunset's thin strips of clouds spotting the sky with dusky colors. Clouds?  Que` no Alex... I think it's your cigar smoke billowing.

SHOW OF LIGHTS

SHOOTING RAYS 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame Darkened clouds filled the vast sky. The daylight was escaping quickly.  Yet as the sun descended, the beams of bright light burst forth. And illuminated the night.

ALBUQUERQUE, HERE I COME!

PASTRIES TO DIE FOR.... Anyway, that is the word on the street of Gold Street Caffe 's pastries. Think I will be shell-shocked since I have been painting huge, gooey, Mexican donuts. Hope I don't eat them all before I complete the pastels. So look for me (on the sidewalk) in front of Patrician Design on Saturday, September 25th from 9 am to 3 pm. I'm sure I can scarf down plenty in 6 hours!

OBSTACLES YET HOPE

THE WALL 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame $150 + $15 insured priority shipping Life seemed so insurmountable. Obstacle after obstacle.  Why? Yet with a closer scrutiny, I observed glorious colors. Hope.... In tribute to Frank... God speed.

DANCING INTO THE NIGHT

EVENING'S PINK CAST 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" pastel 8" square archival white matte, glass + gold leaf frame $150 + $15 insured priority shipping Pale, pastel and subtle the colors whirled. Casting pink shadows that kissed the rooftops.   As the evening danced in.
