SOME GOOD FROM A WAR

ART WALK FOR ANNIE
DRIP + DRIBBLE (left) and WHIPPED + STICKY
PEANUT BUTTER (right)
4 1/2 x 4 1/2 pastels
8" square archival white mattes, glass + scrolled gold leaf frames

Annie Salness is a wonderful artist and blogger that
resides in Portland, Oregon. After experiencing a
stroke several weeks ago, friends coordinated to aid
with the medical expenses a silent auction -
Art Walk for Annie - to be held on December 7th.

I have so much fun flinging frosting with the Cupcake
Contessa Kelley MacDonald, as well as shooting
Donut War paintings across the Nation, that felt it was
fitting to donate some tasty morsels for Annie's cause.

  1. Hi Susan!
I came by your blog by way of Annie's Artwalk. Saw your work there at the event and just drooled, but my painting buddy Gretha was the lucky one to get both of your little frosted goodies. Then much to my surprise, we are hanging again together at the Randy Higbee Gallery's 6" squared show! Funny, our paintings must know each other from distant lands, yet the creators have never met. So, I say to you, Hello from Portland!
From your dusty friend in pastel,
    Brenda

  2. Thanks Celeste! Hope it was an enjoyable event.

And Brenda, I have been following your blog for awhile, so happy to meet your acquaintance! Always nice to meet another pastelist. Happy to hear my goodies went to a home and helped Annie. See you later!

  3. Hi Susan,
I already sent you an email letting you know I bought your two little paintings at the Artwalk for Annie but wanted to acknowledge it here on the direct link, too.
At the auction I couldn't decide which painting to bid on and before I knew it, I had placed winning bids on both of them! It was generous of you to participate in the event.
    Happy Holidays!
    Gretha

Sold! GLOW, by Susan Roden

GLOW 11" x 14" soft pastel SOLD - private collector So nice this pastel went to a wonderful home! Now I'll live in my memories of the Petrified Forest  National Park, where I did a residency and was  the inspiration for this painting. Thank you!

BLAZING RED

GLOW 11"h x 14"w pastel black with gold trim frame sold -   private collector Night fell fast. The lower half of a thick strand of dark clouds turned blazing-red from the sun as it dropped to the horizon. And the night glowed.

MEMORIES AND FAVORITES

DIGNITY pastel SOLD - PRIVATE COLLECTOR After the holidays, I begun to reminisce of people from my past.    Reflecting, I realize that life experiences have  enriched me greatly in so many ways.  Dignity is not only of a friend I lost touch with,  but also a personal, favorite painting that went to another home. Fond memories.... gone but not forgotten.
