PINK FIELDS 12" x 9" pastel on canvas panel PRIVATE COLLECTOR I'm teaching "Introduction to Pastels" once again at UCSD Extension this summer and will be covering a whole array of techniques from washes, to layering and strokes and in various genres. "PINK FIELDS" was the demo piece in illustrating washes on textured panels in an impressionistic style. ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors in this one!!
ReplyDeleteThat water is just downright magical. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteSuch fluffy frothy waves. What a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my previous post. You asked if I use a limited palette, and yes, I usually use the limited palette for sunny pictures, but change it when I am painting the rainy moody scenes. Still mostly doing a lot of experimenting though!
Delight is right. The composition is wonderful and just directs your eye up the waves to the kids. Beautiful color play in the water.
ReplyDeleteIf I weren't such a starving artist myself, I'd buy both your little pieces of the girls in the waves. They are too adorable for words!
ReplyDelete(omg, my verification word is "groper")
Such huge compliments - thanks!
ReplyDeleteNothing like dreaming sun and frolicking in the waves when it's chilly outside. Okey, we're really spoiled in California and such whiners- sure glad there is no snow.
Wonderful subject and handling of the composition and color. It is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely, Susan. It makes me giggle too.
ReplyDeleteGlistening water - how'd you do THAT? Fabulous piece, Susan!
ReplyDeleteSusan, this is so good. I love it. What little doll babies.
